Dr. Johnny V. Baylor is the Senior Pastor of Judson Baptist Church in Carson, CA. He and his wife, Sarai, are the proud parents of three daughters. Dr. Baylor has been in full time ministry since 1989 and has served in various capacities during this time. Formerly, he served as the Assistant to the Pastor to Dr. Kenneth C. Ulmer of the Faithful Central Bible Church in Inglewood, CA. He has also served as the Director of Guest Services and Chaplain of the Union Rescue Mission in downtown Los Angeles, which is one of the largest para church organizations of its kind in the country.
Dr. Baylor’s preaching and teaching ministry is global in nature. He has had opportunities to preach at Keble College at Oxford University in England; Viterbo University, La Crosse, WI; Talbot School of Theology at Biola University, La Mirada, CA; and King’s College and Seminary in San Fernando, CA.; WHW Ministries Expository Preaching and Teaching Conference in Los Angeles, CA., Dr. R.A. Williams, president. Also, Dr. Baylor has a passion for ministering to the incarcerated. Internationally, Pastor Baylor has ministered the Word of God and led ministry teams to do ministry and preaching in London, Oxford, and Munhall, England; Germany; Cuba; Brazil; Israel; Ghana, West Africa; and Sydney, Australia. Nationally, his gifts and abilities range from facilitating a live Christian radio broadcast to facilitating seminars and workshops nationally.
Dr. Baylor’s educational credentials include, but are not limited to, a Certificate in Biblical Studies from Grace Bible College, Long Beach, CA; Associate Degree in Pastoral Studies and Bachelor of Arts in Christian Education from Baptist Theological Seminar of New Orleans, LA; Master of Arts in Theology from Talbot Graduate School at Biola University, La Mirada, CA; and Doctor of Ministry Degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, OH. Dr. Baylor has also done continued education with theological study groups at Kellogg College, Magdalene College, and Keble College at Oxford University in England.
Dr. Baylor is the organizer and CEO of Mercy Community Development Center (MCDC), Inc. MCDC is a non-profit organization that seeks to serve the community by providing life enrichment programs to its residents. Dr. Baylor is also involved in the community by serving on the Board of Autism Society of Los Angeles, National Alliance of Black School Educators, and Torrance Memorial Chemical Dependency Program. He previously served as a professor and member of the Board of Directors of the Southern California School of Ministry in Inglewood, CA; a Professor at Calvary Chapel Bible College in Torrance, CA; and a member of the Consultative Panel at California State University Dominguez Hills in Carson, CA. Dr. Baylor also served on the Ecumenical Commission on Worship and Spirituality and previously held a five-year appointment to the Christian Education and Literature Workshop with the Baptist World Alliance.
